In 2016, the IIA Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK) Practitioner Study highlighted the most important skills CAE’s are looking for in the report, “The Top 7 Skills CAE’s Want: Building the Right Mix of Talent for Your Organization” (see Exhibit 1). Critical thinking and communication have consistently been rated as the top skills for audit success.
People-Centric Skills was initially published in 2014 as the first publication to tackle the wide-ranging topic of communications skills for internal auditors. Due to its popularity, People-Centric Skills, 2nd Edition, will tackle the next-level of communication skills.
Danny M. Goldberg will preview this new book, due out in May from Wiley, with topics of discussion centered on the following:
• Reading People (Fraud Interview)
• Emotional Intelligence
• Determining the Optimal Mode of Communication
• Influencing Change through Communication
• Public Speaking/Presentation Skills
• Coaching and Mentoring
• Reading Body Language
• Thinking Quickly on Your Feet
• Crisis Management
I attended your presentation on Crucial Communications which was absolutely great! Thanks for being the instructor. You are an amazing instructor and are so lively with the audience.

HFTP Controllers Conference - Practical Ethics
I attended your Project Management seminar today and found it very interesting and motivating! Would you please send me the project planning and status templates that you referenced today? Feel free to include any other template along these lines and throughout the process that may be helpful.
I look forward to attending other seminars that will be available later this year.
Project Management - North Jersey IIA
I enjoyed the class. Your delivery was unique/informal from other presentations I have been a part of and it was effective in delivering the message. I got a lot out of the last two and a half days.
Lansing IIA - November 2016
“It was great meeting you last week in your training class. I really loved your presentation and content and how you made the course very interactive. I found your session to be very powerful.” – Attendee, CAE
San Jose IIA: People-Centric Skills
The Practical Ethics course was extremely interactive and encompassed many different subjects and situations. It was very interesting and helpful to hear several different perspectives on these issues and made you think of how you would respond in specific situations and why. I can definitely take some of the thinks I learned in this class and apply them in real-life situations.
Practical Ethics Attendee - Spring 2017
“First of all I want to thank you for the training provided, for your energy and for every single explanation given with a lot of patience. The training was very useful, especially for a person like me with no IT experience at all.”
IT Auditing for Non-IT Auditors (Boston, MA) - Private Training
Danny is a great speaker and the review of the audit process is critical because many times, we might think we are being valuable to our institution, but we have some areas that we may lack. The discussions with the audience were helpful because I got to hear similarities and differences among audit shops because everyone has certain ways that they conduct their processes. As still being fairly new to internal audit, this session really opened my eyes more to the audit process and the ways that we should carry ourselves among our colleagues in the institution.
ACUA Annual Conference (Miami) - 9/2016
The Fraud training session yesterday was really great. You have a great way of providing good, relevant information while also being very entertaining and keeping the group engaged. That is not an easy feat, especially during those all day sessions so thanks again.
Fraud Risk Assessment Attendee - Boston IIA March 2017
I really enjoyed and greatly appreciate your delivery of the message you were trying to convey. You really made the meeting very enjoyable and upbeat. I hope to attend or see you again in the future. I was just reaching out to you and letting you know what I thought of the book that I purchased from you at the meeting.
I really enjoyed the aspect of the book that you kept it in a narrative and story style. I think it made it a very quick read and also puts the skills and practices that are referenced in the book as well as your training into real world scenarios. I also really like how each chapter was broken out after the chapter with the skills sets, messages, or concepts listed instead of like a textbook format throughout the chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. I have recommended the book to my supervisors that I think this book and your trainings would be very beneficial to all of my co-workers.
I really appreciated you letting me feel so included in your discussion and presentation. Being a younger professional who thinks they have a very strong soft skills set I still feel like I learned and took away a lot from your book and training. I hope to continuously improve my people centric skill set and hope to someday be in a position where I can make an impact as broad as you have.
